CRP Racing suffers trailer fire on return trip home from the Sebring race in March

On the return trip home from the first SPEED World Challenge race of the 2008 season in Sebring, FL, in March, the transporter CRP Racing had leased caught fire only a half hour away from the CRP race shop in Harrisburg, NC, severely damaging the racecar and the team equipment.  The extensive damage to the car and equipment forced the team to miss the SPEED World Challenge races in Long Beach, Utah and Watkins Glen. This has been a very big blow for a small race team with no major sponsors or funding.  Along with trying to replace the team equipment that was destroyed in the fire, the complete devastation of the racecar has left CRP Racing trying to rebuild and get the racecar back on the track where it belongs.  The driver

of the #12 Corvette, Brian Kubinski, along with his father Larry, have been extremely gracious and patient as CRP Racing rebuilds their car.

CONGRATULATIONS BRIAN KUBINSKI on your 5th place finish in your comeback race at Road America!

After missing 4 races due to the trailer fire, Brian Kubinski and CRP Racing had an amazing comeback at Road America in Wisconsin August 10th.  Brian placed 4th in qualifications out of a field of 26 on Saturday, taking the claim of fastest Corvette on the track.  During the race, Brian had a bit of a rough and tumble go of it, getting shuffled down to 15th place at one point, but was able to work his way back up through the field.  As Brian said, "After several hard earned passes and some competitor attrition, I found ourselves in 5th place with 2 laps to go!"  Kubinski was able to hold on to his position and complete the race with a 5th place finish.

Brian says he kept his driving skills sharp during his World Challenge hiatus with the help of Joe Koening of Trim-Tex, www.drywallart.comwho provided him with a couple endurance races and test sessions in Joe's purpose built BMW.

You will find Brian Kubinski and CRP Racing next with IRL at Detroit Belle Isle, August 31, 2008.
